Glock 30s Vs Glock 30 - Consider the 30S or 30SF. If I understand correctly, the S has a shorter slide and the SF has a shorter frame. Are the handles the same as the size 30? What is the best concealment model for IWB? Thanks in advance!
If you plan to keep it stock, the 30S is better. If you are interested in modifying your pistol to shoot other calibers, you should choose the 30SF.
Glock 30s Vs Glock 30
The G30S is a Gen3 G30SF (10+1) receiver (version after June 2012) with a thinner, lighter bolt and barrel originally designed for the G36 45ACP single-stack pistol. The G30S bolt, designed for the smaller OD (thin wall) G36 barrel, will not fit the factory G30 or G30SF 45ACP pistol barrel.
Glock 30 Gen 4
The G30SF (Short Frame) G30S receiver differs slightly from the standard Gen3 G30 receiver in that the trigger radius of the SF grip is ~2-3mm shorter.
The width of the G30S slide (1.003" ± 0.002") is 1/8" less than that of the G30/30SF (1.126" ± 0.002"). However, the width of the G30S grip, measured at its widest point 1/4 inch below the magnet release, is the same as the other G30 models (32.50mm or 1.28 inches). Therefore, only a slight improvement in concealment should be expected.
The G30S weighs 3.5 ounces. Smaller than the G30 Gen4, which is 11% shorter overall with a full 10-mag. Many appreciate the increased comfort of the G30S pistol during long-term storage due to its light weight. The overall weight and height of the pistol (grip+magnet) can be further reduced for easy concealment with the optional 9rd factory magazine available for the pistol. By comparison, the height of the G30S grip + mag with a 9 magazine is 0.6 inches less than the height of the G19 9mm pistol.

Some New Friends.. Glock 30sf .45 And Springfield Hellcat 9mm
Very comprehensive information from those previous comments. I bought the 30s a few years ago and have never regretted the decision. It's pretty much my first choice for a year off work.
The only suggestion I have is to check out the GATE Self Defense forum for Moss on .45 ACP ammo.

I've had a 30 on my wish list for a few years and plan to get one one day. However, the 30 gen4 accepts a 10mm conversion barrel and is therefore on my list. What should be seen first. Whatever you choose, it's a great choice.
Glock 30: The .45 Acp With A Variant For Everyone
The G30SF G30S frame uses most of the Gen4 G30 internals. Externally, it is similar to the Gen4 G30 without the backstrap, the Gen4 grip design, and the larger magazine catch and right-side mounting capability.
The G36 G30S slide is lighter and less bulky because it is designed for 45ACP. It's not just a minimally modified 10mm slide like the G30SF. Every Gen4 45ACP pistol except the G41 uses a bolt designed specifically for size and weight for the 45ACP. The caliber optimized bolt design makes the G36, G30S and G41 the most attractive Glock 45ACP pistols IMO.
Let's also discuss the issues with the G30S. Which can also be found on this forum.

The G30 is the largest Glock I have tried to carry. A regular G30 carries a 2x4 inside the thigh. When comparing the 180 grain 40 to the 185 grain 45, I find the G27 to be much smaller, less bulky, and have similar ballistics.
I copied this image from another post in this thread to show a size comparison between the G26 (the same size as the G27) and the G30s. And without the extended base plate, the G26 or G 27 can hide more.

Glock 30s Or Springfield Xds?
I enjoy shooting my G36, had a 30sf, didn't like the weight and bulk. But if you don't mind the bulk and weight, the 30s are definitely your best bet. Regardless, the 36/30 family is much more fun to shoot than my short S&W 38.

3 years into my 30. I've put 2500 rounds through it without a single failure or stoppage of any kind. I had no BTF with him. I still sometimes wear it in a mix supertak. I personally prefer the 26/27 EDC.
I have a gen4 30 made in 2014. You need to shoot more than I do. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it only has 200 rounds through it. It sits securely. I traded the 36 to my dad. He liked to wear a smaller 36. Both the 30 and the 30 are great guns and I wouldn't hesitate to get another if the need arose.

I personally have not had any issues with the 30s, 30sf or 36 and now own and shoot all three.
As I have said in other threads; I give (2) to grandchildren (3) and leave (1). Raced from 30 to 25 yards and can hold a 4 inch bull. Grandson 4 inch bull at 15 yards.
My saved 30s have a few 2k rounds before I'm competitive enough with this rig, which I've never had a problem with.
Like I said before, I didn't know others were having issues with the frames, I must have missed a negative comment from 2013.
S Vs 30sf
Some of the 30S are good, some are not. I'm not the only person (even on this forum) who only had issues with the 30S. What I want to know is if the 30S is a popular gun model like the one in the Glock, why didn't it go forward? Why didn't we see this in Gen4 let alone see it in Gen5. I guess they know they have problems with the 30S and will never bring it out in the Gen4 series... tone it down if you will. But time will tell and I'm tired of them releasing a new 30S other than offering it right now. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you claim to be the holy grail, never hiccups, great, I'm happy for you. I myself will go off the 30S platform and never look back until the Glock is a redheaded stepchild full of problems.
